If there was mail-in-voting and it really was a disadvantage to the Republican party, all they would have to do is moderate their positions to appeal to more voters and, voila, the whole problem would solve itself. You don't even need to go to mail-in voting; you could let everyone have a ballot to fill in at home and then drop it off on Election Day or in lock boxes specifically set aside for only ballots.
