Jahanara Imam. Her diary, Ekattorer Dingulee (days of '71), written during the Bangladesh Liberation War captured the essence of the struggle. Her son Rumi fought in the war, was interrogated and killed. Same happened to her other son. Her husband was also detained and interrogated with him returning a broken man and dying 3 days after. She is referred to as 'Shaheed Janani' (mother of martyrs) as a symbol of all the mothers whose children died fighting for Bangladesh's freedom in the war. Following the war, she spent her life trying to bring the killers and collaborators who betrayed Bangladesh and assisted the genocide and genocidal rape during the war.
